Last Tuesday, June 29th, we celebrated the life of GP. It was a beautiful service and I know GP would have been proud sitting in the audience. He was a special man and I always will cherish the time I spent with him.
I am a little behind on my posting, but trying to catch up in the few moments I have here and there. It's amazing how two kiddos makes the day fly by and if I can shower, brush my teeth AND post something on the blog...it's a good day : ) Katie has been a good little baby. I started to feel "normal" again at the 2 week mark. She is a hungry girl, wanting to eat most of the time...or poop. She wants to be held a lot and has peed on me way more times than Andy ever did. The one that keeps me on my toes is Andy. He is a MONKEY. He climbs on everything and has mastered escaping any sort of fence/blockade...and even has figured out how to open any type of door. He seems like such a big boy compared to his little sister and has been so sweet with her. He gives her kisses - A LOT - and enjoys creating the spotlight on him any way he can. I keep telling myself...this is a phase, but I feel like I will be going through a lot of "phases" for many years to come. Here is a picture of our baby girl at 1 1/2 weeks old!
Last weekend we went out of town for the first time with baby Katie. Kyle had to twist my arm initially as I wasn't sure if I could do it 1 1/2 weeks post surgery, but it was the perfect medicine! We went for short walks and Andy was in heaven. We had a great time with the Lentz family and I think we will be spending a lot of time up on Whidbey this summer!
During our 1st week home, we had some more visitors who brought us yummy dinners and special gifts. Thank you friends (Court & Ronnie, Car & Allen, Allison & Rob). We are so lucky to have you in our lives!
The Sunday after we came home, we gave Katie her first bath. Going through these pictures gave me flashbacks to Andy's first bath. I love the pictures of Kyle with Katie - melts my heart.
When we got to our recovery room, one of the first things that I noticed was that we had to check out 48 hours after delivery. It seems a little crazy that after major surgery we would be leaving in two days. Well, the day to go home came, and although I was excited to get home to my own bed and to Andy, I was hesitant to leave the constant care. One of my favorite moments in the hospital was our night nurse making a special hat for Katie. She was one of the only girls that was delivered during the time we were there, and she said that Katie was a diva and needed a sassy hat. She made a hat with a bow out of two hospital hats - I loved it! Here we are ready to head home.
Day #2 started off with a visit from Ka and Andy. Andy was quite a stinker - as he was trying to get attention any way he could. That included throwing graham crackers on the floor and stomping on them. I have to admit, after he left, I was overwhelmed and very nervous about life with 2 kids! Andy also was sweet and gave his sister kisses, but otherwise didn't really pay much attention to her. We also got special visits from Auntie KP, Aunt Wendy, Bapa, Nancy, Auntie Beks and Car and Grandpa Alden and Grandma Connie. We also were able to get some alone time with our little girl! At the end of day #2, I was in quite a bit of pain and exhausted. Thank goodness for the hospital nursery.
