Andy has developed a recent strong interest in sports. He especially likes to point them out on TV and when he sees equipment related to a certain sport. This past weekend, we were watching golf on TV. Andy was copying the commentator (and his daddy) and was yelling at the TV. When someone was teeing off or putting, he yelled "IN THE HOLE". When putting and the golfer missed, he yelled "BUMMER!" And when the ball went in the hold, he yelled "NICE SHOT!" This happened ON EVERY SHOT. It was pretty funny to watch. He also loves to watch football, soccer, baseball, and tennis. It's pretty much anything that has a ball because he loves balls. He's not too coordinated himself yet with the hand-eye action, but he loves to try : ) We went to the Husky/Syracuse home game a couple of weeks ago and Andy (and Katie) lasted the whole game. Andy kept pointing out things during the game (mostly airplanes and flags), but toward the end he was taking off his hat during kick-offs and cheering with the rest of the stadium "GO - HUSKIES". We had a blast and are excited to see this part of Andy's personality come out.

Airplane
Andy's favorite things (besides making choo choos) are airplanes. He points them out wherever we are, in mid-conversation, in the car, on a walk - and then waits for us to acknowledge that he saw one. When he hears one but can't see it - he exclaims "airplane!" and then he says "I can't" and searches and searches for it. If he eventually sees it he says "found it!" and gets a big grin on his face. This is a multiple time-every day experience. I guess it's one way to discover we have a flight route above Queen Anne!
Hearing the airplane
Looking for it
I FOUND IT!
Satisfied with his find
Oh - I hear another one...
Hmmm - looking for it
"I can't" and obviously sad/frustrated about it!
Bath Time
Katie loves bath time. I love bath time with Katie. It partly is because I love to see her smiles and hear her squeal with excitement as she splashes in the water. It's also partly because I am a detail person...and there is some delight that I have in cleaning between Katie's rolls of skin and knowing they are clear of whatever gathers there (I know, I'm weird). This bath time, Kyle did the work and I documented. There's something about seeing a little girl with her daddy and the way she looks up at him and the way he adores her. It makes my heart smile.
This first one makes me laugh because the background pretty much sums up my life these days: wine, Starbucks and a pump bottle : )
Looking at Daddy
Hi mom
Heart smiling : )

Choo choo
These days Andy likes to line everything up in a "choo choo". His food, his cars, his animals...and he adds the sound effect as well. We were hanging out yesterday morning and I had to capture Andy with his four current favorite toys that he likes to make into a train. He must have lined these up in every room in the house yesterday.
Contemplating his next move
This is SO much fun momma!

Andy and Daddy
As I was taking pictures of Katie at 3 months old, I had a tired little boy wanting to cuddle with his daddy in the background. I had to capture the two of them together because it's not very often I get Andy to sit still for more than a few seconds. I just love these!

Katie girl - 3 months
So many people told me that Katie would be 3 months before I knew it and the Holidays would be here even sooner. Well, she is 3 months old today and Halloween is all around with Thanksgiving and Christmas looming. It's so cliche to say, but I feel like she was JUST born...but also cannot remember what life was like without her. She is such a part of our family and it has been fun to observe Andy and Katie together.
Katie's schedule these days is waking up between 7:30 - 8:30 for a morning feeding. Then she and I have about an hour of time together where she is super alert. She smiles, giggles, coos, grabs, and mimics facial expressions (sticking out tongue/making raspberries, etc.). During this time, mom also enjoys her morning coffee and the morning news in the background. Between 8:30 - 9:30, Andy wakes up and Katie enjoys about an hour morning nap. I spend my time with Andy, having oatmeal and looking at the airplanes, spiders, birds, and people walking/flying/climbing outside the windows. Around 10:30, Katie is ready for feeding #2. She is a very efficient eater and she lets me know when she is hungry - which is a great thing! Her cries mean one of a few things: 1) She's hungry; 2) She's tired; 3) She has burp that needs to get out; or 4) She has a rash and a poop - otherwise she is a-okay sitting in a poopy diaper (although mom is usually on it).
At this point we usually play inside until noon or we go for a walk getting us home around noon or 1. Another feeding and lunch for Andy and nap time for both around 1 or 2. Andy sleeps for about 2 - 3 hours and Katie does too! Katie eats when she gets up - then we make dinner, go to the park, or play. We keep our fingers crossed that daddy gets home around 6PM and eat dinner as a family. Andy goes down between 8 - 9 and so does Katie, after her last feeding. Then we get an hour or so as adults before we head to bed and it all starts over again.
Obviously, this is the "we don't have anything else going on" schedule. But even on the go - Katie sticks to a routine give or take an hour here or there. She is a happy girl and loves her swing and bouncy seat. She also loves stuffed animals or toys that make a crinkle noise. Her brother adores her...a little too much, so we are working on being "gentle" with sister and discouraging Andy from picking her up, which he thinks he can do. Andy - well, he is a monkey. He is turning into a little boy and is the energizer bunny these days. Let's just say I am sleeping hard at night : )

She found her thumb!
Andy never sucked his thumb - not even once. When I walked upstairs to get Katie out of her crib about 3 weeks ago and she was happily sucking her thumb - I was excited. That means she doesn't need the binky in her mouth to soothe herself...but also means braces down the road?!? I know, thinking too far ahead. It's pretty cute to see her happily sucking her thumb and I finally had my camera within reach to catch it.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling
Katie has rolled! She was having some tummy time and I left her enjoying some time on her mat. I walked back into the room and she was on her back. I assumed that her brother had come in and flipped her over - so I put her back on her tummy and sat for a second to see if she actually was rolling. She did it again - and then Kyle grabbed the video camera and she did it again! We cheered and went back to making dinner. Since Andy saw that we got excited about Katie - he started rolling all over the kitchen floor. Do you think he likes having someone else steal the spotlight? I think not. Hooray Katie!

Go Huskies!
Last Saturday we got the whole family decked out in Husky gear for the UW/BYU game. Before we left for Whidbey, we put Andy's hat on (first time he allowed for something on his head for more than 5 seconds) and we raised the Husky flag. We are hopeful today's game will end with a win - and we will be wearing our Husky colors with pride!
Dadda's hat...Andy's hat (on repeat once Andy's hat went on)
Kisses
Off they go
Flag is up!
Up on Whidbey - Katie with Bapa watching the game
We met little Caroline Ault for the first time. She is ADORABLE and we had to capture our girls together in their Husky gear.
Already a Husky fan - cheering on the Huskies!

Labor Day 2010
We celebrated the rainy Labor Day weekend up on Whidbey with the whole family. We watched the Huskies - and were disappointed with the outcome. Boo! And we attempted the Campbell Christmas card. With 8 kids ages 6 and under - it was entertaining to be behind the lens. In an attempt to get the annual shot in the Whidbey chair - I thought it would be funny to post some pictures of the chaos that we face when taking family pictures.
