Kyle has been great about helping out with Andy and Katie. He has taken them on errands, on fun adventures, had them help him with projects, and gotten them dressed and ready for the day. We both took the kids to school on our way to a doctor's appointment. When I looked in the back seat I had to laugh at Andy's hair. It was sticking straight up. I am sure Andy's preschool teachers just had to laugh. That night, we decided it was easier to just buzz Andy's hair. Katie's hair just doesn't get done. Poor girl!
Since Abi was so little when she was born and I didn't get to breast feed her while she was in the NICU, it has been a little bit of a challenge getting this feeding thing down. Our pediatrician and lactation consultant want Abi to be gaining more weight, which means feeding her every 2 - 3 hours. Since I have to pump to provide supplement milk, feedings can take over an hour. So, I feel like I am feeding or pumping all the time. My cosy spot is in our bedroom, where Abi and I have spent a lot of time. I am thankful for Pinterest, Facebook, and On-Demand to keep me from getting cabin fever.
Betsy and her kids came to visit and it was so fun to see how excited the kids were to meet Abi. Maggie was able to feed Abi - which was a highlight to watch. They also were very entertained by my pump...and maybe a little scarred. Sorry guys!
Monday was our first full day at home. The day started off with Katie being very curious. It was pretty cute. She was carrying her baby doll around and wanting to feed her baby like mom. She kept asking tons of questions and wanting to give lots of kisses.
We found out Sunday morning that we were, in fact, going to be able to take Abi home. It was such a good feelings knowing she was coming home with us. She was eating what was expected of her (45cc's) and passed her car seat test and her breathing and jaundice all were at levels that were normal and safe. Hooray!
Car seat Test
Pretty excited parents : )
Big brother so excited to hold his baby sister (Katie was napping)
Going to sleep in her bassinet for the first time!
On Saturday, we spent the day going back and forth to the hospital to help with feedings and to visit our baby girl. She was breastfeeding and given great reports. We were given a hint that she might be able to go home the next day.
In the meantime, Andy and Katie went to cheer on Callie at her soccer game.
