Monday was the first day of preschool for Andy and Katie. We dropped Katie off first (per Andy's request). Last spring - Katie would run into her preschool and give me a loud goodbye once she entered. Monday...it was a whole different story. Kyle came to drop her off as well and I think that was a mistake. Coming off a weekend with Daddy taking a day off work and lots of play time - and both of us dropping her off, I think she felt like we were abandoning her. She screamed at the top of her lungs...the other 2 year olds were looking at her with wide eyes...is this how I am suppose to act? I stayed for a few minutes, but we had to drop Andy off also (both preschools start at 9am). After dropping Andy off, I called Katie's preschool, and Katie was doing better, but up and down and asking for her daddy. That afternoon, Katie slept for 5 hours. Maybe she was a little tired??? Wednesday, I dropped Andy off first and stayed with Katie for about 10 minutes. That helped, but she still was clinging to me. After I left she was great. Gotta love transitions!
Andy, on the other hand, barely stopped to give me a high five. He was so proud to show his dad where all of his stuff was (cubby, jacket hook, classroom). When I kneeled down to give him a hug, he turned on his heels and ran to the toys. I had to ASK him to give me a hug, and all I got was a high five. After school, he was excited to see me (thankfully). I asked him how his day went and he told me that he made a new friend, Hank (great news for my independent, would rather play by himself, 4 year old). When what he did with Hank, he responded, "Oh no mom, we didn't play with each other. Hank was wearing a Seahawks shirt and we only root for the Huskies." Oh, Andy. At least he's a die-hard Husky fan?!?
